Owners: Ken & Amanda Berg & Cyrus Fontaine We started Cumberland Road in 2020 with the mission of bringing specialty coffee to our hometown, Saint Elmo, IL. The Cumberland Road stretches from Cumberland, Maryland, all the way to Vandalia, Illinois, and it passes right through our little town of St. Elmo along the way. It was the first national road, built with federal funds, to cross state lines, and it represented unprecedented levels of cooperation between states. To us, the Cumberland Road is a perfect analogy for our goal as a company: connecting our community with great coffee.
